Toxic mold is a type of mold that produces hazardous byproducts called mycotoxins. While individuals with asthma and other respiratory problems may have reactions to many types of mold, it's thought that mycotoxins are more likely to trigger health problems like memory loss and severe lung problems, especially in infants and the elderly.
Floating particles of mold are invisible to the naked eye, so it's impossible to see where they might have landed until they begin to grow. Loose mold particles are easily inhaled.

There are many possible indoor air pollutants such as indoor allergens, volatile organic compounds (VOC's), cardon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxiode (CO2), and other harmful gases. Exposure to these pollutants can cause or contribute to both short and long term health problems.
Examples of such short term health problems are respiratory infections, asthma, allergic reactions, fatigue, dizziness, nausea, eye and skin irritations. Examples of long term and chronic health problems could be various forms of cancer, organ damage, reproductive disorders, neurological damage, and even death. It is important to monitor any structure's indoor air quality, especially a home.
